‘Boozhoo’ is the traditional greeting of the Anishinabe (Ojibwe, Odawa and Potawatomi) people.  It is derived from the name “Waynaboozhoo”, the Spirit Being that first walked the earth for the Creator who we know as “G’zhemanitou” or Great Kind Spirit.  Waynaboozhoo walked Mother Earth during the time of creation, shaping and forming the land.  From his experience comes to knowledge that has transcended through time, conditions and oppression to inform our life today.  This teaching is an assurance to Anishinabe people that shall always continue to exist.  We are reminded of the original message through this greeting:  “My heart to yours, in peace, truth and equality.”
